Good Call in action
Fast Forward's Alumni Retreat
CEO of Good Call Jelani Anglin, Executive Director of Good Call, Kim Belizaire and Operations Manager Angie Connors traveled to San Francisco for the Fast Forward's Alumni Retreat. There, they had the privilege of connecting with other tech non-profit leaders, engaging in thought-provoking panels, and enhancing our skills through various training sessions, providing a fantastic platform for connection and learning.

New Lawyer(s) Added + Hotline Trends
This quarter, we welcomed two new attorneys to our hotline team, increasing our total to five. Our newest lawyer brings expertise in criminal justice defense and immigration law, a crucial addition given the rising call volume and the need to address immigration-related inquiries. In just the first quarter of 2025, our hotline has already received 211 calls, including 74 urgent calls from people navigating arrest-related crises. We're on track to meet—and potentially surpass—2024’s volume.

Caucus Weekend/Jelani Speech + R2RS Trip to Albany
At the 54th Annual Legislative Conference, our CEO, Jelani Anglin, addressed hundreds of young people during the Youth Summit, highlighting the critical role of Good Call and our internship program. This event also provided a platform to engage with legislative officials, enhancing our advocacy for early access to counsel.

New cohort of interns
Let’s welcome our newest cohort of interns. This is the first of three cohort classes this year. This class of five comes from our community partner Exalt. From learning to be community organizers to learning about legislation, we’re excited to see their growth in this program.
Presentations For Youth!
We continue our commitment to educating youth about the criminal justice system. This quarter, we had the privilege of presenting to Fannie Lou Hamer High School, YouthBuild NMIC students and Streetsmart sharing the importance of our hotline and listening to their powerful stories.
